A doctor friend of mine once chastised me for not wearing a helmet when on my bicycle. She shared a story to convince me how much protection a helmet provides. Her friend had an accident while riding, and if not for her helmet would have probably not survived the head impact against the curb. I asked how she was doing. The doctor said the impact against the curb broke her neck and she is now a quadriplegic...but she is alive. Hmm? But I still wear a helmet.
