I assume the OP leans liberal/progressive/democrat---the party of "tolerance" So how is this statement different from "Mexicans are rapists", that the left vehemently attacked Trump for? What if I said the Polish are stupid, or the Irish are dirty, or blacks are felons but eat fried chicken and watermelon, or gay men are pedophiles? How would that go over in the liberal precincts. Those statements are just as repulsive to me, as a conservative, as they are to a liberal.
I tend to think that liberals are misguided, since they promote an agenda of proven failure, but do not call them names. So why is it OK for the left to attack Republicans or conservatives, or Christians for that matter? The term is hypocrisy---preaching tolerance but being intolerant of differing views, advocating strict gun control while being protected by armed guards, throwing billions of tax dollars at failing public schools while their own children attend prestigious private academies. Remember, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
