I have never seen an AC/Heat pump thermostat with
only 2 wires. I cannot imagine how this would work, unless it is already WIRELESS to the Heat Pump unit. IMHO, I think you need to do some additional investigation. Most Heat Pumps have 8 to 10 wires connecting the thermostat to the main unit controls, and you will probably need to get the manufacturers wiring diagram to the thermostat that you intend to use. This maybe a little more complicated then a DIY project.
