Exactly. Range finders and GPS are really not needed on the executive courses. The plaques on the ground are very good and you can estimate a few yards behind or ahead. If the pin is up front I deduct ten yards and if up back add ten. I'm not that good of a player where I need the distance down to the yard.
Playing regulation course might be a different story because you don't have exact yardage plaques in the ground every ten yards.
