I think the judge was pretty smart --
He had to know Czerner would run thirty seconds after being released, which means no more crimes in this area by him. So, no court costs for the County for convicting this creep nor public defender costs. Also, no housing in jail and/or prison (at least $32,000 a year) costs. In return, the County got $5,000. Seems like a fair trade to me.
