There are almost no pure African blacks in the US. You seem to be implying white blood. Many blacks have american Indian blood because blacks would be accepted by the indians but faced return to slavery if they were captured by whites.
Our black slave history is not nearly as simple as it is taught in school. At the same time that we are taught about the horrors of slavery no one mentioned the practice of apprenticeship-you were a slave for seven years. It was a system of honor. In exchange for your free labor the craftsman was supposed to teach you a trade. You were a SLAVE. You were not fed well. You bunked in the barn not in the masters home. We also had indentured servants. In exchange for your passage to America, you were a slave for 14 years.
I do not recall his name but there is furniture of the finest quality in the NY Metropolitan Museum of art that was made by a BLACK MASTER-CRAFTSMAN. The history was that he was a skilled cabinet maker. Normal practice was if you had a skilled slave-woodworker, blacksmith and often a church minister you would have him work for others for a fee which would be split between the slave and the slave owner. This skilled cabinetmaker saved his money and bought his own freedom., When, he set up his shop one of the first things he bought was a SLAVE. Not as we would want to believe a family member, his girlfriend etc. No he bought a slave so he could control his labor.
It is shocking to discover that a fair percentage of southern slave holders were themselves black.
