Get a medium size tropical fish net, also have about a 12 by 12 inch flat piece of corrugated cardboard. When it's out in the oped drop the fish net over it. Put the cardboard on the floor and slowly move the net over the cardboard.
Don't panic if it looses its tail. The little guy is fine. That's a genetic defense/survival mechanism. The predator gets the tail. (It continues to move after coming off to keep the predator busy) as he makes his escape.
