He was not president elect when he made those statements. Secondly some lawsuits should be settled rather than litigated for numeral reasons . Third the courts to alleviate their court calendars make mediation mandatory for favoring settlements rather than litigation. Fourth often the costs money, time ,logistics often are the decisive consideration rather than liability
People will read into this settlement what they want to believe. I can't know why they settled, did the judge strongly recommended it, did the plaintiffs believed Trump election adversely affect their claims and would forestall any activity until he left office or even perhaps that they recognized they had a weak case and got out when the getting was good????
