I believe the last time it was pointed out that since we don't have basements the piping was run thru the attic as the soil composition and the concrete mix also had adverse effects on the piping and if there was every a leak or accidental puncture the floor had to be dug up to fix and or replace the piping. So it was also legal, easier and cheaper for the homeowner this way. I myself NEVER had natural gas and wouldn't want it. JMO

However, I am curious as to how the new homes in Fenney with natural gas access are constructed to mitigate the lightning hit fire risks.
