You are confusing school board members and school superintendents. In New York school board members generally do not receive a salary. Certain districts provide a small stipend. You can not compare the responsibilities of school board members with superindents.

In Florida school superindents often receive salaries above $200000 with incentives. School boardmembers also receive the $32000 salary noted before.
