Actually doubt if he would have been arrested without more evidence than just the girl's word. The cops would not want to open themselves up to a lawsuit which would result if there were nothing to these accusations. This kind of arrest does a great deal of damage to a person's reputation throughout the local community. The local cops seem pretty much on the ball IMHO. Well trained and very good with community relations.
I am not saying he did it just that there is probably evidence suggesting he did. I am extremely well aware of bureaucrats who overstep their authority for any variety of reasons but we have not heard that much of this being a problem in Sumter County.
