these R the largest opening in most homes.
I took the spa cover off so it wouldn't blow away and put it in front of the sliders so if debris hits them they may be protected.
But they at the same time need to secured to the opening (not to blow away), I just propped a few 2x4's on a 45 from the lanai screen base aluminum and screwed it into the bottom of the spa cover which is plywood
this can help also if your lanai was closed in with glass and you left the primary sliders in place.
If one did break you can use big sofa cushions or a mattress to protect the interior.
