Neighbor talked to CertainTeed the manufacturer of the shingles on many roofs. He was told the winds stated in their warranty is for gusts, not sustained and that damage caused by hurricane force winds are not covered. I don't believe that Sumter requires Miami standards so maybe someone should talk to Sumter to get the local codes and since the county does the inspection before providing occupancy permits, that might be the place to check before we hammer the developer.
