Social media like this forum is fake representation. People say and do things in anonymity they would never do face to face or in a group. Promotes a cowardly prone communication media.

It's used in social engineering...getting people to buy things...They "hype" something, falsely make it LOOK like there is a lot of interest/agreement. This activates the "herding" instinct in humans to "go along". If everyone else thinks/believes/does it this way...I should too...ALL those people MUST be right.
Anonymity allows people to say what they really think when it goes against their "public persona".
