Those of which you speak, who never served, are not full members. They can only belong to the Sons of the American Legion or SAL for short. As a child I belonged to the SAL, IMHO having adults in the SAL is absurd, it was akin to the Boy Scouts. I’m a full member of the AL, have been since 1972.
