A tribute band can sound great, but it adds something...at least for me...if there’s at least one original member.

For all of these bands, such as BST, Chicago, Badfinger, on and on, most orignal members would be at least in their mid 70's and many in their 80's. While there are some notable exceptions (Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett come to mind although their style of music lends itself to less stress on the vocal cords, and Peter Noone and Gary Lewis) most people in this age group just cannot perform at the level that a professional band should be held to. There are a lot of very good musicians and singers in The Villages in this age group, but I don't thnk any of them would profess to be able to perform at this level on a night in-night out basis as a professional touring band would do. We saw The Four Lads last year, and they had one original member and the other 3 had been with the group for decades, and I was very disappointed. BS&T and The Four Freshmen have found younger very capable performers to bring us the original arrangements at a very high quality level. I much prefer to hear that kind of performance instead of a band made up of orignal members who may struggle. Just my opinion. I'm sure others will have a different view.
