I have found they freeze up once in a while if not lubricated. A special Allen head type wrench can be used to free them up. I put a little mineral oil or olive oil in mine about once a month after it froze up on me a couple times.

I run a few ice cubes through it once in a while followed by half a lemon to deodorize it.

Also one might need to push the reset button.

They can be unclogged by pushing down on the impeller with a dowel and rocking it. I don't put artichoke leaves, egg shells and such down one anymore. I learned the hard way! lol
