We purchased our first home 3 years ago - a 2/2 CYV Woodlawn with a 1 1/2 car garage. Loved the home and the neighborhood (Greenbriar).
At the time, I was still working in Atlanta, so it was only used as a vacation home every other weekend or so - and it was perfect.
We moved down full time in Oct 2016... and when we moved ALL of our stuff, we found we really wanted a little more room, and a 2 car garage. But it had to be a CYV.
So, 3 years after our first home (and 10 months after moving down full time), we moved - not far - to a 3/2 Avondale with a 2 car garage in Phillips Villas. Couldn't be happier! Again, great neighborhood with great neighbors.
As another plus, the 2 car garage Villas have a MUCH larger space above the garage for storage.
If I had to do it over again, the right way would be to find the type of home you like, then find it with a 2 car garage. I say that but... I am impulsive, so I would probably do it the same way again and not wait for the "right" house. Once you get down here and settled in, you can shop for real
