Nothing paranoid about being able to protect yourself in a very unlikely event. Do you only where you seat belt when you think that you might get in an accident? Is it paranoid to wear a seatbelt when going to pick up your mail?
As I said before, I have not needed a gun to protect myself since I got out of service. If I needed a gun to protect myself, I would live somewhere else.
