Just my two cents...
Having replaced close to a dozen toilets for people in The Villages, I no longer do them. I’ve run into issues with cracked toilet flanges (caused during installation),floors which are not level (plumbers using grout to level the toilet base), etc. While I agree that a homeowner can replace a toilet on his or her own, in my opinion, it’s money well spent to hire a licensed/insured plumber. Mike Scott Plumbing recently installed a toilet for one of my customers for $85.00. This was a toilet supplied by the homeowner. Another good piece of advice is to replace the supply line, and if your house has a push-pull (Accor) valve, it’s probably not a bad idea to replace it with a 1/4 turn valve.
