Those after-stress headaches were always just on one side. Is that typical of a migraine? They were awful. And I could not function. As I recall the doctor would give the shot of Demerol and then maybe some kind of sleeping pill. Probably that treatment has been replaced by now. This was in the early 80's. It worked. I sure hope the pattern never returns. I don't even have headaches much anymore, but I sure do remember those things.
I know someone who has auras that indicate a migraine is on the way. Sometimes if meds are taken at that point, the migraine can be prevented or may not be as bad. She sometimes takes the meds with a hit of caffeine, usually a Coke. I have heard that caffeine can be a headache trigger, but for her it makes the meds work faster or something.
I know someone else who has the aura only but not the headache.
Migraines remain such a mystery for so many.
