Tennis or athletic shoes are fine, golf shoes are not required. The most important thing is that the shoes you wear will not damage the greens. There are many types of golf shoes that look so much like sneakers it is hard to tell the difference. The only advantage of golf shoes is that they are designed to slip less when swinging, especially when the ground is wet.
