First of all, you don't have to pass people going in the same direction. You can simply wait until they move. But it will reduce the number of people that are in a hurry and decide to pass within six feet.
Nothing is perfect and not everyone is going to obey. But if we can reduce the amount of close contact it will be better.
I still have met people telling me that this is no big deal and that nothing should be closed. Fortunately, they are few and far between. I believe that the reason that this virus hasn't spread like wild fire in The Villages is that, because so many of us are in very high risk categories that the vast, vast majority are following the social distancing rule and other recommended procedures.
