The antibody test is not used to determine if you have an active case. It's purpose is to determine if you've already had covid-19. A covid-19 antibody test can reveal whether an illness suffered a few of months ago (or weeks ago), was actually covid-19. It can also detect if a person contracted it, but was asymptomatic. The supposition is that if you've already had it, you may well be immuned to contracting it again.
