But, I think you may still need Comcast if you are energizing a new line and renting a new cable box. So you may want to check with them because Comcast may be a cheaper way to go. If you are just extending an existing energized line, then you may not need Comcast.

right, only the cable provider can activate the line (legally)
ya might want to check out if going with a WiFi connection is a better option....so many folks are cutting the cable nowadays
