Cable hook up on Lanai
I know many homes in The Villages are built with cable connection pre-wired on the Lanai. I need to add a cable connection to my lanai and have no idea who to contact other than Comcast. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Tom at Villages AV, 352-388-1677, will probably do it. Also, any good electrician can probably do it.
But, I think you may still need Comcast if you are energizing a new line and renting a new cable box. So you may want to check with them because Comcast may be a cheaper way to go. If you are just extending an existing energized line, then you may not need Comcast. |

right, only the cable provider can activate the line (legally) ya might want to check out if going with a WiFi connection is a better option....so many folks are cutting the cable nowadays |
Buy a Smart TV and no cable is needed. Your WiFi needs to be strong enough. I have been streaming for a year, it's less expensive, very convenient and the direction TV is going.

Problem solved. We kept Century for our computers and land line. Saved $$, Wish we had done it sooner.:) We did call Tom from AV who mounted it. 352 388-1677, he is very reasonable and interesting guy. |

RobertWR is correct. Smart tv is the way to go. No cable box or multiple wires . Just one from tv to electric outlet. Your Wi-Fi will pickup cable.

To provide some clarity, as i recall Comcast will not run NEW cable in the house (I assume the other cable providers are the same), various electricians will do this ($$$), but may not connect the cable in the garage. The OP was not clear if they needed an existing outlet connected or needed a NEW outlet installed. While all of the WiFi comments are valid, if the OP is using a cable box, then he will need a cable connection. Also there are additional considerations if the house is a block house. In a discussion a couple of years ago, Comcast refused to run a cable outside the house for a connection to another room, and refused to drill through the concrete block. As noted above, Tom (the av guy) would probably be the best person to talk to for possible solutions.

Comcast has wireless boxes. All you need is an electrical outlet , a television and wireless internet. The box runs off the WIFI. I have had one for three years
