Don’t know what you mean by steel vs ventilated shelving. But I’ve installed the heavier weight wire shelving available at Hone Depot or Lowes in both closets and the garage. It’s the style with slotted vertical components that hang from a horizontal steel component across the top. Various lengths of shelving supports lock into slots in the vertical parts and the wire shelving rests/locks on to those shelf supports.
This shelving supports a huge amount of weight. It requires either anchors or concrete screws to fasten the weight-bearing horizontal component across the top. The vertical components can be fastened to the wall with “regular” screws.
