I'm afraid I can't follow your logic. So what if the Confederate officers served in the U.S. Army first? They declared cessation and then war to continue slavery, not really a "bad government" thing. Some former Confederate officers were very good citizens, others such as Forrest, not so much. Once again, as far as I'm aware, nobody here has justified what so many insist on calling 'erasing history'.
Further, if you see the Confederates as trying to change a bad government, aren't the protesters (
NOT LOOTERS OR RIOTERS) doing pretty much the same?
