If you want a dial-up service, there are many choices. When I moved to the Villages, I kept the same dial-up service (Poetworld) I had used for many years in Cincinnati. All I did was change the access phone number my Village computer dialed to a local number. Poetworld had many "local" numbers so when I travelled, I took my laptop with me and just changed to whatever phone number was local for the area I was in; thus no long distance charges.

I've since upgraded to broadband but a Villages friend continues to use Poetworld. He has absolutely no problems with it.

There is no contract to sign; you pay by the month. Monthly fee is $7.95 for 200 hours (you'd have to be on the computer over 6 hours each day to eat up 200 hours). You get 4 email addresses.

I have no connection to Poetworld - and no, you do not have to be a poet! - I'm just a very pleased past customer. They were very courteous when I cancelled my account and gave me absolutely no flak about doing so.

Note, however, that if you want a computer connection to the Villages tee time system and used Poetworld (or another "outside" ISP), then you would have to pay an extra $8.00 per month for the connection.
