I use the feature mentioned above (Silence Unknown Callers) except when I am having work done on the house or expecting a delivery or something, where the driver/worker might be calling me on a strange cell number. Otherwise, people can leave me a message and I'll call them back.

If the calling volume greatly increases might do as you do but for the rare annoyance calls will put up with it.
Do notice that quite a few of these calls tell me they are recording the conversation for my protection. When that is said I hang up immediately.
Too great a chance they will string together a bunch of my words and use it against me.
