This concept (called Area or Vicinity Marketing)was developed about 10-15 years ago. It broadcasts a message only to those people within say a 3 mile radius of your store. developed so that small businesses could reach out to locals without the huge expense of a media (radio) buy. Example: It's snowing so you get an ad "snow bird special, buy one pizza at Joe's Pizzeria get the second for 50% off only during tonight's snow storm."
