This depends on the product that was used to originally seal the grout. I made the BIG mistake of using a "20 year" product there was a "511 grout sealer" which we applied to the entire house before we moved in. 3 years later, the grout in the kitchen was really dirty and could not be cleaned. I complained to the company and was told 'the sealant is only good for 2 years in heavy traffic areas', this is NOT stated anywhere in the product or instructions. We redid the entire house with Grout Shield and this appears to be a much better product and much longer lasting.
