New data showing that fully vaccinated seniors are 94 percent less likely to be hospitalized with COVID.
The new results come from a real-world CDC analysis that measured the effectiveness of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in 417 adults aged 65 and older. In addition to the strong protection offered by two doses, the analysis also found that partially vaccinated seniors were 64 percent less likely than unvaccinated seniors to be hospitalized.
Unlike the clinical trials for both vaccines, this analysis took place during the spread of new, highly transmissible variants and provides reassuring evidence about the continued effectiveness of vaccines. Roughly 69 percent of all Americans aged 65 and older are now fully vaccinated.
