Obviously, not many on here have read the book regarding how to make friends and influence people. Guess I am just as guilty. However, does anyone on here REALLY think that they will convince anyone by SHAMING them? I have children and grandchildren that have announced that they will NOT be getting vaccinated. Even though I was hesitant in the beginning to get my shots, I still ended up convincing myself that I was doing this for my spouse. Then I started encouraging the family to get their shots, but I did NOT push them or shame them. Why? Because they had reasonable to good reasons to refuse it. AND, since we still do not know the long term effects of the shots, despite the mostly positive information gained so far, I did not want to push them into something that I might be responsible for causing them possible harm. All of them have tested positive for Covid and survived the virus, shrugging it off like a minor cold. Now they have anti-bodies and a valid reason for not getting their shots. Of course, some will argue that too.
What is the motivation for those on here SHAMING folks for not getting their shots? Is it with the purpose of wanting/needing to return to a normal life? Some on here suggest that masks and distancing should continue indefinitely. Is it because you are scared that your vaccine will NOT protect you from the infected? I do not believe the mantra of "patriotic duty" at all, when it comes to some on here suggesting that as everyone's "duty." I believe that a lot of the posters on here are just as guilty of "me,me,me" as the ones they ostracize.
You won't convince anyone by slamming them for your opinion that they are WRONG to refuse the vaccine.
The OP is right in producing already known information to reinforce a good reason for obtaining the vaccination. Whether the virus is weakening or the vaccine is working, I think we can now see some light at the end of the tunnel. Personally, I have changed my lifestyle very little, but ALL of us have been affected by this thing in some manner.
Weighing all the information I can find, I think that the vaccines available are safe. I cannot guarantee that they are safe, but I felt safe enough for my wife and me to get the shots. I sincerely hope that others are diligent in doing their own research and do not allow opinions to be the sole reason for getting or refusing to get their vaccinations. Availability is no longer an issue. There is a surplus of vaccine now and anyone over 16yo can get inoculated.
