I'm not a fan of hotdogs with casings. I prefer skinless, all beef. Sam's jumbo 1/4 lb dogs are actually pretty good, I just wish you could get rolls that they fit in. They're more like beef kielbasa than hotdogs. Very flavorful, good texture.
I never liked Nathan's, but I grew up with Hummels, which are made in Connecticut, and so far I haven't seen anything close to them. If I ever drive back up north, I'm going to buy a case of them and bring them back on ice. Delivery cost to Florida on these puppies is over $100 for 24 dogs, heh. I might pick up some Perri Sausage too. They're out of New Haven/East Haven (an area called the Annex). I worked there as a temp for a few months in the payroll department. The office had a window that looked out onto the factory floor and we could watch them make the sausages. Very cool.
