As far as hedges, I doubt they block dust. The ones that flower, release pollen part of what people call dust. In any case they do block vision. People in cars could not see you as you step out of your home. Your car? Your dog? Your grand kids?
The front of the road is MANY feet away from the house so a hedge has nothing to do with safety. And plants LEAVES do block dust. They are sticky with small hairs. And I was NOT saying to BAG the clippings. Just don't be a jerk-dork and blow the clippings out onto the PUBLIC STREET. It is PUBLIC - it should not be desecrated by an ignorant homeowner. I would NEVER stoop THAT low to think that I am MORE important than my neighbor's HEALTH. Many people are allergic to dust and are on oxygen in TV Land - so it is MUCH more important here than up north, when we were all younger and had stronger lungs.
