His filming has nothing to do with real estate ads, Google, county property records — things we all know we have to expect as a matter of course.

If he knows the owners and asked permission, I apologize — but I don’t think that is what’s going on with this video.

I think he has invaded someone’s privacy to use in some kind of “show” he is doing about TV — and I think that is either a thoughtless or arrogant thing to do.

My guess is that if he has given this any thought at all, he thinks because he is making “nice” comments (unlike some posters here) he thinks it’s OK to declare open season on a random owner’s home.

Unless the owner gave permission, the YouTube video, and this thread, too, need to be taken down.

But I would bet the homeowner knows nothing about this (for now).

I hope the person who is out and about doing this kind of thing will give more thought to his behavior. If he does that and still thinks it’s OK. . .well, then — geez, what a clod.

If the poster trespassed it would be. However he did it from the street. He's making a compliment on what the OWNER of the home wants US to see.

Most homeowners in TV are proud of their home and it shows in the neatness of the property, the design of the landscaping, the choice of flowers and shrubbery and the paint colors, trim and roof shingles.

Let me ask you this: Is it an invasion of privacy to drive around TV during Christmastime and look at all the decorations? Is it wrong to take pictures of all the lights?
Of course not.
If you want privacy, put up a big solid fence or pull down your shades.
The OP had something nice to say and share with all of us. No need to be snobbish.

Since you asked — Christmas lights are different. We bought in a village close to the elaborate Christmas display that used to happen every year in Hadley so I am well aware of the planning that goes into displays like that. It was impressive and fun and intended to be a “show” so that was all perfectly fine. Such a display is done for the public.

I remain of the opinion that if this video was done without the owner’s permission, it was a downright tacky thing to do. “Nice” comments by the guy are are not the issue. No absolution there.

If he continues to drive around and film homes to “feature” in his YouTube videos, he needs to ask permission from the owners. (Maybe he did that — but I doubt it — and like I said above, if so, I apologize.)

Your comparison to Christmas lights is not a true comparison. One is invited. One (likely) was not.

Btw, my manners are not “snobbish” like you said.

I remain,
