I am only interested on putting the rain gutters on the lanai (less than 40 feet total). Does anyone have recommendations for installers if I decide it may help? We are new to the Villages and don't have much experience dealing with contractors here.

Yes if the wind is blowing toward the lanai you may still get some water on the lanai. My suggestion is gutters over lanai, also over the front door entrance and the garage door. That will keep you and visitors from getting soaked if entering or exiting during a rain. Other reasons are the rain running off the roof will wear away and stain the concrete driveway and walkway.
