Unless you are on the "above 200Mbps" tier you can likely still use Docsis 2.0 (two.0) with no problems whatsoever. They still support modems that are over 10 years old for those below 100 Mbps despite what their website lists. I know people up north still using Docsis 2.0 with the 100 Mbps tier and Comcast doesn't give a hoot. They just want you to rent their Gateway modem/router (which I do because it's a LOT cheaper for me) because there is no 1TB Cap and I use close to 2TB a month due to hi-res outside cams. Using my own modem would cost me an extra $50/month for the extra bandwidth.
