A cougar is an older woman who knows what she is doing. Financially self-sufficient. Independent thinking. Not looking for a good provider. She's figured it all out and she goes after what she wants. And she gets the cougar name when she is on the prowl for a younger man. A cougar is a clever, experienced huntress.
I don't think a cougar is to be confused with a sugar momma. A sugar momma is different. You know, like a sugar daddy where the charm is in just the money. In fact, I hear that there are young men now who are known as cougar hunters because they prefer the company of older women. Things are not so complicated that way.
