Notice the faster response by the printer. Less data needed.
Huh? The OP said there is a "significant delay" when printing in color. My color printing starts within 2 seconds after pressing the print button. I don't consider that to be a significant delay. I did your test and there is no difference in printing times for color vs black and white for my printer.
