About my support of the military — I will say also that I sometimes think we need to bring back the draft. Why? Because our country does not seem to be able to grow men like they used to. We have too much undirected testosterone running amok. There are plenty of young women who could use some direction, too. But getting knocked up without having a clue how to parent is the name of the game.
100% concur. In fact, I favor an Israeli style mandatory service scheme.

Btw, thank you for not saying January 6 was a good thing. I have a very good friend who votes Republican come hell or high water. But he told me that he sees January 6 the same way I do. . .Of course, we all know there are those who might never do such a thing themselves — but they are still cheering for those tools, those pawns, those puppets. I watched it in real-time — and I cried. Democracy under siege. If ol’ Mitch had not called them back in, Democracy would have died that day. Now it’s in the ICU, but it survived — for now.

Are you sure you won’t take a look at the January issue of The Atlantic? If you are willing to even look at the cover, you will see why I thought it was worth taking the risk of going political in this thread.

Anyway, ElDiabloJoe, you got me so wrong, so very wrong. And — if I were a member of MENSA, I would not tell everybody. That seems elitist.
