The Villages is (in)famous again.

There was another article in the papers and lots of mention on TV (television) about The Villages Monday, Tues & Wed. . Three Village folks (doewsn't seem to be any connection between them) arrested for voting twice in the presidential election complete with names and photos. Their duplicate votes were not counted because the system worked as it is supposed to. . The latenight folks have been having a blast with it. Sadly another black mark for The Villages despite it was only 3 who got caught. Colbert's show Wed night monologue had a couple minutes on "life in The Villages." Funny and sad but true.

Edited 12/18 to add:
I have requested this thread be closed. It's so sad but when folks get older, the second thing to go is their sense of humor and the inability to look in the mirror and laugh at themselves. Or maybe that's just a "local thing?" I haven't seen as much as I see here in other places.

This comment from another poster pretty much covers my original intent:

I don’t understand why people are so uptight about Colbert having a little fun at the expense of the villages way of life , for as long as I can remember comedians have gotten laughs about senior citizens living in Florida ,it’s didn’t just start with the villages.

Don't know of any other than what the news is reporting, But where there is smoke there is usually fire.

I wonder if they feel sheepish. I wonder if they feel baaaaad.

Mugshots and a skewering by Colbert. I saw it. It might be online now.

I'm surprised the moderators allow this. The election is over. Colbert as a balanced news source? Hum, people run from New Jersey and want to turn Florida into what the RAN from?

WOW - three, really? Out of 150,000 people. That must have really swung the election.
Good to know the only place cheating happens in TV.

Agree.

Not sure who really watches those late night shows anyway.

The Moderators are living their lives. They are not on duty around the clock.

Do you always paint with such a wide brush DAVE? I left New Jerky and reference it from time to time but definitely don't want to bring the Jersey ways South. Not a chance. There are a whole lot of New Jersey people who are fine people. We just don't take any grief from anybody, ever. NEXT! :boxing2:

Colbert = NOTHING. Not worth the sweat off a grape. :1rotfl: :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Vote early and vote often.

metoo21 12-17-2021 07:13 PM

Why don't they catch the dead people?

MrFlorida 12-17-2021 07:54 PM

If you read the article that was in the Village News, you would have saw that these three people voted twice, once in Florida, and once in their home state.... Mail in ballots were the reason, nothing to do with the Villages...

It's nothing to do with Colbert or his slant on the "news." It made national news on all networks he just had a funny and almost true bit about life in the Villages from Golf Carts to shutting down early. Old folks jokes. Nothing political, just what has happened here in The Villages. You don't have to listen to the rest. Don't turn it into anything more than news about The Villages. No more or less news than the guy arrested for exposing himself.
