what amazes me is that people are comfortable using an out of the area roofer for something as important as a roof. McHale's told me that a lot of the calls they are getting for leaks are to those roofs and the company's won't come back. sure the new roofs look nice but it's not like the county inspector actually goes up and makes sure it's done right....I saw one...they just walk around from the outside. when I have my roof done, I want a local company with a good reputation for doing good work, and who I know will come back if there's problems.
Was told by a reputable local roofer that if you have damage on 3 or more slopes, the insurance would cover a whole new roof (and any damaged plywood under the failed shingles that they later discover during removal). Local companies like Batterbee and McHale will do a close inspection, mark the damage and tell you if you are probably eligible for insurance replacement (less your deductible). They've been around a long time and know the ropes. They are friends with the insurance companies not adversaries like the "door-to-door" guys.
