The problem with this approach is that frequently an innocent business gets targeted because of a misunderstanding by the customer. The original message and this quoted reply are perfect examples of that.

According to the OP:
- the steaks were marked $21.99
- there was a 25% off sale
- four steaks were purchased
- the amount charged was $65.97

$65.97 is the price for three steaks ($21.97 * 3 = $65.97). The OP was sold four steaks for the price of three; 75% of the regular price; 25% off; exactly what was advertised.

Where is the shyster-ism? In what way was the OP ripped off? What "scheme" was being used other than giving exactly what was advertised - 25% off?

Several posts, including the original and the quoted reply, have criticized and insulted the store simply because the OP misinterpreted the labeling on package. The OP didn't share a picture of the label but the online listing for the item clearly indicates the price per package and the weight of the meat in the package. What more could the business have done to make the customer aware?

At least in this case the Fresh Market is not guilty of bad practices, shysterism, or attempting to rip anyone off. Still, several posts have accused them of that. People run for their pitch forks way to quickly these days.

Confirmation bias is real; I can find any number of articles that say so.
