I think the flexible part of the dryer vent is only the section that connects the dryer to the wall. Any ductwork behind the wall is most likely a metal duct because it can get hot and must be fire resistant.
I would agree that, if your air supply ducts are made of sheet metal, then having them cleaned would be safe to do, but I don't think you will get much benefit from doing it. Most of the newer houses with the ducts located in the attic have the flexible type ducts.
