There probably are aliens - there are a lot of stars (billions and billions) with a lot of planets that could conceivably support the generation of life. The extreme distances involved makes it unlikely, really unlikely, that they have visited earth. The probability function is not zero, just very small. If there have been visitations, I suspect the technology involved will not look like metallic fly saucers. Technologically, any visitors would be as far above us as we are above an ape.
