The Dr here says i'm higher risk for detachments again when cataracts are done. i think i heard they are the best for eye doctors? anyone know thanks cc[/QUOTE
What you are describing happened to me. I had cataract surgery on my right eye in the early 80's; implants were not a common practice at that time at least in North Carolina where I had the surgery performed. My eye Doctor insisted that my best bet was a "hard " contact lens. Could not wear it; scratched and irritated the eye terribly. Found another doctor to do the implant and no further problems for a couple years. One morning on the way to work, I took a sneezing spell and tore and detached the retina. Not knowing what was wrong, I delayed seeing my doctor. When I did, it was too late. Many surgeries later, I have very little vision in that eye. Do your research and good luck.
