The problem is that our culture is suffering from severe mental illness. You combine that with easy access to guns and this is what you get. No, it's not just the guns and it's not just the mental health problem. But combine those two and it's like the synergistic effect, and we have this explosion of gun violence. Yes, we need better mental health and yes we need more gun control.
To use Chicago as an example of gun control not working is an outlier and a problem with social conditions there. If you look across the board at other nations with strict gun control, it does work. The fact that we don't follow their example is a sign of cultural mental illness.
