Nah, this is nothing new for the state that brought us 'Surrender at Any Price' Eugene McCarthy. He accomplished his goal - we surrendered (pulled out) then the Senate led by McCarthy cut off the promised aid to Saigon. The result was what Senator McCarthy wanted; people who had supported the United States were slaughtered by the hundreds of thousands, religious freedom became history, hundreds of thousands more fled Vietnam, most of them dying at sea but a considerable number of them making it to the United States. That was the only good to come from this debacle.

The slaughter of the Cambodian people by the Khmer Rouge followed as surely as day follows night with no countervailing power to hold the Communist leaders, particularly Pol Pot, in check.
